Saturday after Thanksgiving was the perfect time to visit the Houston Zoo for our first time. We got there early enough to tour around the Hermann Memorial Park before the zoolights would start.
The crew before we get started! Still so weird to be wearing shorts in late November, but the weather was too beautiful to pass up!
Sitting in line, waiting for the train to come was far too boring for the kids so they had to find their own entertainment - climbing the statue. The rest of us that stayed in line were actually the most entertained watching Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dummer try over and over again to get everyone up onto the statue! It was fun to hear random strangers laughter at the sight of our kids - at one point, Matthew and Emily were up on top reaching their hands down to pull Katie up. Hysterical laughter until I realized that I should be capturing this on photo!
After many great laughs, I had to come over and push Matthew up for a final photo before we left! What a bunch of sillies!
We rode the train around the park

My favorite picture of the girls
At 6:00 the doors were opened to the zoo and we started our adventure with Zoolights!
One of our favorite spots was the pirahna tunnel - here's Emily and Rebecca crawling through
With the pirahna's swimming all around, the kids sure had a fun time safe in the tunnel!
We sure loved all the lights! Emily, Bex and Katie posing in the arctic section
Matthew enjoyed his shoulder ride with Sam
Katie and Emily loved this sea serpent!
This tree stump was about 8 feet in the air and of course we had to get Matthew up there for a comfy seat!
This projector put a lion up on the rock behind the girls
The crazy monkeys!
Can you guess who is behind what mask?
Sam's got rhythm! Helping the girls drum away!
Bex with Sam on the carousel ride
Emily and Katie rode beside Bex and Sam but...
Matthew found his own spot on the armadillo a little ways back. But I still found him and caught him before he could shy away from the camera.

We had a great night at the zoo and can't wait to go again and see all the animals in the daylight! Most of the kids were asleep in the car before we got home at 10:00 that night which meant Sam and I did a good job wearing them out! I love this time of year and all the beautiful light displays we are able to enjoy!
