Under the Sea

Katie was able to perform in her first theater play, The Little Mermaid, put on by the children's theater company CAPA the weekend of June 28th.  She had a performance at 7:00pm Friday night, 2:00 and 7:00pm Saturday, and a final performance 2:00 on Sunday.  Sam and I took the kids to the first show Friday night where I took tons of pictures so that I could relax on my Saturday night date with Sam watching it alone.  Emily and Matthew loved the show (Bex stayed with a babysitter) and were very sad they only got to see it one time!
Katie never lets me do her hair so when I found out she needed to have her hair up in a bun, I was thrilled!!!
Just to let you know, Katie had to try-out for a part in the play by preparing 2 songs to perform before the judges.  She was accepted and got the role of Fish Schoolteacher and a Dancing Chef.  Try-outs in March, practices began early April.  She would have rehearsal from 5:30 - 8:30 pm on various Thursday and Friday nights, also 9:00 - 2:00pm on a few Saturdays.  It was every night the last week prior to show and all their hard work definitely paid off!
Her hair is so thick and long and absolutely wonderful to twist up into a bun!  We did performance makeup with blue eye shadow, mascara, pink cheeks and red lipstick.  She loved wearing makeup which she doesn't get to do regularly.
She was in the opening scene and easy to find as a fish school teacher.
Katie lining up on the left for the "Under the Sea" song
 Here she is behind Flounder

 Such a fun song!
Katie singing away straight in the back row!
One of our favorite song by far!  Katie is a natural up there on stage and really loved participating in this program!

Les Poisons

During intermission, Katie did a quick change into her Chef Louie costume and came out to visit with us in the lobby.
 Katie is on the right
Leading her group across the floor
"Cause that makes it taste nice"  Love Chef Louie's leg up!  Katie is 2nd over from the left.
Katie ready for her solo crossing
She gets to silly run across the stage with a platter in her hand.  "Fish flambĂ©!  Fish Tar-tar!"  She had to shout that as she silly ran!
Everyone trying to catch Sebastian.  Katie is in middle facing Chef Louie.
Almost squashes the crab at the end of the song!

Kiss The Girl

Katie's group entering from the left for "Kiss the Girl" song
Katie is on the right just behind the flamingos

" Shalalalalalalala..."
 Circling the boat
Katie on the far right doing a great kissie face!
Katie on the right again - waiting for that kiss!

Finale

Walking out for the final song of the show
"I don't know when. I don't know how.  But I know something's starting right now!"
 This girl loves to sing!

 Take a bow Katie!
 Katie's #1 fan!
 So proud of this girl!
Emily helped me pick out flowers for Katie's final performance.  After the completion, I thought I would feel exhilarated and excited to not have so many rehearsals to drive this girl to, but I will actually miss this!  It was an amazing show and I loved every minute of it!  Katie is a superstar!!!

Thank You, Thank You Very Much!

Sam did an Elvis show in a buddies backyard for his mom and grandma's birthday celebration this summer!  These ladies had just returned from a long visit to Graceland and Elvis was on their mind big time!  So the surprise Sam Elvis gave when he showed up to the BBQ was so fun to see on their faces!
The kids loved the pool time!
 Matthew watching the show!
Emily sharing her cake with Elvis
Yummy food and extremely nice people made this a fun afternoon!
The kids don't get to see Sam do many Elvis shows and it was such a treat for them to watch shouting "That's my dad!" with that pride in having the superstar in our family.
Elvis shaking a leg with Bex - time to boogie!
I got to be the official DJ that day and helped with the music selection.  Sam has such a great personality for the stage and puts on such a fun show for everyone to enjoy!

Swimming at the Long's

We love swimming at our cousin's house!  Here are the girls in the deep end making a plan!  Maren, Emily and Katie
Rebecca back floating with her mermaid doll (actually Maren's doll)
Maren and Emily - beauties and buddies!
Rebecca jumping into the hot tub area
 Everyone swimming
Katie spent about 20 minutes blowing up this water tube and decided it was hers the entire time!
Emily and Matthew definitely love the water guns!
 Matthew running in!
Here is a side note:  I left my camera poolside on accident and this is what happened!  Jacob looking mighty fine!
 Alex with a crazy selfie!
Poor Parker looks like an innocent victim caught on camera!
I learned my lesson about leaving my camera with the Long's!  Although I did enjoy the extra photos they left for me and more than gladly had to post them here!  I know they are going to love me for this!
Funny cousins!
