Houston Livestock and Rodeo

On Friday night, we headed into Houston for the Rodeo (which we didn't actually see the rodeo, but rather hit up the petting farm, carnival rides and played a few games).
Here is Rebecca riding a horse!

She had a fun time riding Shadow and did not want the ride to stop!

Next we headed to the petting farm.  Here they are petting the llama.

Feeing the animals

Hugging and kissing the animals
Bex loved when all the animals would crowd around their cup of food!

She had a great time picking and choosing which ones to feed
Just her size!
We can't forget the ducks!
The baby ones were her favorite!
Bex was not crazy about this donkey
More food to feed the goats and deer!
Look at the excitement in her face!
And one last hug before we had to leave!

Riding the carousel with Daddy!
Thinking she is pretty hot stuff!
Bex rode the carousel quite a few times!

Having fun driving her car!
She liked having her own seat on this one!

Sharing was fun too!  She really missed her siblings riding with her!

Her favorite game was the fishing game.

She and dad captured many great fish that night!

And these are the prizes she won!
It was a super late night for us, not getting home until almost midnight, but we had such a fun time entertaining Rebecca!  She loved all the lights and stayed awake the entire time!  We will definitely be back for the rodeo next year!

Spring Break at the Zoo

Katie, Emily and Matthew headed up north to Canada for Spring Break with their father, so it was my duty to entertain Rebecca while they were gone.
So we headed to the Houston Zoo!  Traffic was wild and it was crazy busy, but we still had a blast!  There were so many giraffes to see!
 Bex checking out the orangutan
 Showing me her "See" food!
Not too interested in the lazy sleepy lion
The biggest highlight was definitely feeding the giraffe!
It was her first time feeding them and her surprised face following was so much fun to watch!  She was ready to take the giraffe home with her!
 Hanging with the elephants
She loved watching all the monkeys playing!  The chimpanzees were her favorite!
She slept long and hard the entire ride home that evening and keeps asking me if we can go feed the giraffes again!  She missed her siblings a ton, but was definitely entertained by the zoo!

The "P" Party

Emily decided for her party this year she wanted to invite all her friends over for pizza and a late night movie.
We called it the "P" Party - everyone wore pajamas, ate pizza, pop, pretzels, and popcorn, then watched the Pink Shoes (newest Barbie movie).  Every girl's dream!
You can't have a bunch of girls together without doing a couple of crafts!
They made cute turtles and crabs - thank you Hobby Lobby!

 Everyone is concentrating!
 Then we opened presents
Emily was so excited to get so many super gifts!
She got many Littlest Pet Shops, makeup, Lego Friends, bracelet makers, earrings and much more!
The surprise attack of tissue paper!!!
Then we watched a movie while I was constantly popping popcorn!  I thought it was so cute when one of the girls came up to me and said, "I need you to give this popcorn recipe to my mom!  It tastes so good and I don't even like popcorn that much!!!"  I have to let everyone in on my secret - using a stir crazy popper (yes, one of those ancient dome shaped, spinning poppers) instead of microwave.  It's so much yummier that way!  That is my secret recipe :)
After the movie, it was time for their Gigi Cupcakes - so yummy!  And yes, I am addicted!
Blowing out her candle
Emily loved being the center of attention the entire night!  Sam took Katie, Matthew, and Bex out to dinner and games that night so that this could be all about Emily and her friends!
12 screaming, giggling, crafting, starving, wild girls running around the house for 3 hours made for an early night's sleep for mom!  We had an incredibly fun night! I love all these girls that help my Emily shine!
Happy Birthday Emily!

Emily's 9th Birthday!

On Thursday, Emily chose our menu for the day which consisted of donuts for breakfast, Jack in the Box for lunch (which Sam, Mom and Rebecca took to school and ate lunch with her) and Mac and Cheese Shells for dinner that night.
But her favorite part of the day was opening presents!
She got lots of clothes, Littlest Pet Shops, piggy bank, Barbie and the Pink Shoes movie, DS games and more!
She has grown up so much on me this past year!  I cannot believe how mature she is looking and behaving (sometimes :)
 Blowing out the candles!
Emily is an amazingly fun girl!  She loves to smile and make others laugh!  I love to see how strong her spirit is and watch her make good/solid choices.  I am so proud that she works so hard in school and excels in all areas!  We are so blessed to have her in our home!
I love you Emily!
